Recall legal
Privacy policy
This policy explains how Recall handles information when you use the website and browser extension.

Who we are
Recall is a personal learning-practice tracker operated by Shangchun Shen in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. For privacy questions or requests, email shawnshen820@gmail.com.
Information we collect
When you sign in with Google, we receive the basic identity information needed to create and secure your account, such as your email address and the name or profile information Google provides.
Recall stores the learning data you choose to create or sync. This can include NeetCode problem identifiers and titles, solve times, acceptance and timing details, help-level responses, reflections, notes, review schedules, and extension-device connection details.
Our service providers may process limited technical information, such as IP address, browser or device details, and request logs, to deliver and secure the website. If you contact us, we receive the information included in your message.
Cookies and local storage
The website uses essential cookies to run sign-in and the dashboard: short-lived access and OAuth flow cookies, plus an HttpOnly refresh cookie with a rolling 30-day lifetime. The OAuth flow cookies expire after 10 minutes. We also use a time-zone cookie, set by your browser, to calculate dates and reviews in your local time; it can remain for up to one year. We do not use advertising cookies.
The extension uses Chrome's local extension storage for locally saved solve records, reflection drafts, sync queue, diagnostic preference and records, an installation ID, and its signed-in session. That session contains access and refresh credentials, expiry information, your account identifier, and the installation ID. Extension auth storage is restricted to trusted extension contexts.
How we use information
We use information to provide and secure Recall, show your dashboard, synchronize your practice history across the extension and website, respond to support requests, prevent abuse, and comply with applicable law. We do not sell your personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
Extension and diagnostics
The Recall browser extension records accepted NeetCode solves and related learning information locally first. It starts syncing those records only when you sign in from the extension's user interface or select Connect extension from a signed-in Recall dashboard. Signing in to the dashboard by itself does not start extension synchronization. Local records can remain on your device while you are signed out or offline.
To recognize a supported NeetCode problem page and restore an in-progress reflection, the extension locally retains the supported NeetCode page URL, problem slug, tab ID, frame ID, and document ID. When it syncs a solve, it transmits the problem's canonical URL, the supported NeetCode source/page URL (which can include a query string or fragment), and the learning record to Recall; tab, frame, and document IDs remain local.
Optional diagnostics are off by default and stay on your device. If enabled, they are limited to detector version, normalized failure reason, sync status, and record or export timestamps; they exclude notes, questionnaire answers, solution code, credentials, account identifiers, full URLs, third-party responses, and page text. Turning diagnostics off deletes the retained diagnostic records.
Sharing and service providers
We share information only with providers that help operate Recall, such as authentication, database, and hosting providers, or when required to comply with law, protect rights and safety, or complete a transaction you request. Google processes sign-in information under its own privacy policy. Recall is not affiliated with NeetCode or Google.
Data retention and deletion
We retain account and learning data while your account is active, unless a longer period is required for security or legal reasons. You may request deletion by emailing us at shawnshen820@gmail.com. Deleting an account removes its associated Recall server-side learning records and revokes connected extension devices; shared public problem and topic catalog data is not personal account data. It does not clear records stored locally by the extension. To remove those local records, clear the extension's data in Chrome or uninstall the extension.
Your choices and rights
You may request access to, correction of, export of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us at shawnshen820@gmail.com. We may need to verify your request before acting on it. Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights under local law.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as Recall changes. We will post the updated version here and revise the date above. Questions can be sent to shawnshen820@gmail.com.
